October 30-November 3

THANKS to everyone that sent in candy for the Candy Crash.

  • This week's story is The Night of San Juan.
  • This week's genre is realistic fiction.
  • This week's focus skill is theme.
  • This week's vocabulary words are wistful, grateful, irresistible, revelers, grim, raspy, and swarmed.
  • The week's grammar skill is commas.

    • Homework goes home on Monday, October 30 and is due on Thursday, November 2. I grade part of the homework, so please make sure it is correct.
    • There will be a reading test on Thursday, November 2nd this week because of the fall festival on Friday. It will consist of a cold read passage and question set, comprehension questions from this week's story, and vocabulary sentences.
    • Last week's tests go home on Tuesday, October 31st.
    • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 3rd.
    • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc. I will continue to sign conduct folders for failure to bring materials to class, failure to return signed papers, leaving belongings in my class, behavior, etc!
    • Not signing D/F test papers (violation 1.13) is getting the students in the most trouble. Please ask your student daily if they need anything signed.
    • Let me know if you need me in any way!
