September 26-30

                  Homecoming Week!!!!
Monday: Dress as Your Future Occupation
Tuesday: Dress as Your Favorite Board Game Character
Wednesday: Wacky Tacky
Thursday: Color War. 5th Grade is gray or black
Friday: Saints Attire. 11:30 dismissal. Let me know through a note if your child is going home a different way than normal. Brunch will be served on this day.

  • This week's story is The Night of San Juan.
  • This week's genre is realistic fiction.
  • This week's focus skill is theme.
  • This week's vocabulary words are wistful, grateful, irresistible, revelers, grim, raspy, and swarmed.
  • This week's grammar skill is similes and metaphors.
  • Open House is Tuesday, October 4th.
  • Book fair is the week of October 3rd-7th.
  • We are working on Week 7 of studies weekly. Test will be on Thursday.
  • There will be a reading test on Thursday also.
  • Last week's tests will come home on Tuesday.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it the next day.  .
  • Please check agenda books!
  • Reading vocabulary homework is due on Wednesday and reading homework questions and passage are due on Thursday. Homework is listed in the agenda books!

    Picture Day is this Tuesday, September 20th.

    Have your child wear blue on Friday, September 23rd for alopecia awareness month.

    OIS Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4th.

  • This week's story is A Drop of Water.
  • This week's genre is expository nonfiction.
  • This week's focus skill is Cause and Effect. 
  • This week's vocabulary words are elongates, elastic, rigid, accumulate, underlying, intricate, vanish, and replenishing.
  • This week's grammar skill is homographs.
  • We will be working on Week 6 of social studies. Each student has a study guide. There will be a test on Friday.
  • There will be a reading and grammar test on Friday.  
  • Please check agenda books for homework!
  • Reading vocabulary homework is due by Thursday. Reading story questions and passage homework is due by Friday.
  • Saints for Christ is in the library for students to attend every Wednesday morning at 7:15!

  • We will be working on Week 5 in social studies this week! There will be a test on Friday!
  • There will be a reading and grammar test on Friday.
  • Test papers will go home on Tuesday.

  • This week's vocabulary words are gesture, specialized, proportion, envisioned, resisted, and scholars.
  • This week's grammar skill is context clues.
  • We are working on week 4 in social studies. The test will be Friday. Remember this is an open newspaper test plus the study guide goes home on Mondays. You should be seeing lots of 100s.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday.
  • Last week's tests will come home on Wednesday.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return by Friday.
