Hope everyone enjoyed President's Day!
- This week's reading story is "The Invention Convention".
- This week vocabulary words are scours, appropriate, practical, portable, circulate, protrude, boisterous, deduction, fickle, and measly.
- This week's spelling words are review: irreplaceable, immature, indefinite, illiterate, independent, applicant, accountant, insistent, novelist, technician, cellist, porous, glorious, spontaneous, fictitious, mountainous,weak, week, dual, and duel. Check your child's agenda book nightly for spelling homework!
- This week's focus skills are review: making inferences and main idea and details.
- This week's grammar skill is verb tenses.
- Both classes are working on Week 20 in social studies.
- There will be a spelling, grammar, social studies, and reading test on Friday.
- There is Tuesday and Thursday night homework this week. Check agenda books.
- Progress reports go home this Thursday, February 18th. Please review, sign, and return as soon as possible.
- Please make sure your child has pencils daily.
- Test papers marked sign and return are due by Friday.

Thanks to everyone who offered to send in special Valentine's Day snack. We will celebrate on Friday, February 12th. Your child can send in valentines to exchange if they want.
This week's story is Inventing the Future.
This week's story genre is a biography.
This week's focus skill is main idea and details.
This week's vocabulary words are irrepressible, feat, industry, tendency, device, and prestigious.
This week's spelling words are homophones: steal, steel, waste, waist, weak, week, base, bass, pain, pane, flare, flair, dual, duel, stationary, stationery, flower, flour, sight, and site. The students will need to know what each word means because they will have to spell the correct homophone that fits in the sentence.
This week's grammar skill is verb tenses.
We are working on Week 19 in social studies. Ask your child about their extra credit option. The social studies test is on Thursday.
The spelling, grammar, and reading tests will be on Friday.
Remember NO school on Monday, February 15th!
Remember to check your child's agenda book every night. They have HOMEWORK for a grade!
Remember your child needs pencils and paper daily at school!
Test papers go home on Tuesday. If your child makes a D or an F, a signature is required. These D/F papers are due back by Friday of each week.
PLEASE remember that ATTENDANCE MATTERS. Unless your child is throwing up or has a fever, they need to try their hardest to be at school.
