October 1-5

This is Review Week. No reading story or vocabulary words.
  • This week's focus skill is again author's purpose and perspective.
  • This week's grammar skill is Greek and Latin word parts. There will be a grammar quiz on Thursday.
  • Homework goes home on Tuesday of this week. I will be out on Monday for jury duty. Remember homework is optical, but I grade it for bonus points.
  • There will be a spelling test on Friday, October 5. The spelling words are astronomy, astronaut, chronic, chronological, chronicle, cyclical, cyclone, hydrant, hydrate, optical, optician, tractor, attract, rupture, interrupt, erupt, audible, audio, dictate, and verdict.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday. It will consist of a cold read passage and question set.
  • Last week's tests go home on Tuesday.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday.  
  • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc.
  • Let me know if you need me in any way!

    September 17-21

  • This week is review week. No reading story. We will be doing activities to reinforce the reading standard.
  • This week's reading standard to review is Cause and Effect.
  • This week's grammar skill to review is homographs.
  •  Reading homework goes home on Monday. It is not due until Friday. Reading homework is not required, but bonus points are rewarded if the ones I choose to grade are correct.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday. It will consist of a cold read passage that includes cause and effect and homograph questions.
  • Last week's tests will go home on Tuesday.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday.

  • Reading homework goes home on Monday. It is not due until Friday. Homework is not required, but students receive bonus points to the weekly test grade if answers are correct.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday. It will consist of a cold read passage and question set including cause and effect questions and homograph questions, comprehension questions about this week's story, and vocabulary sentences.
  • Last week's tests will go home on Tuesday.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday.

    Hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day weekend.
  • This week is review week. No reading story. No vocabulary words. We will be doing activities to reinforce the reading standard.
  • This week's reading standard to review is Text Structure: Sequence.
  • This week's grammar skill to review is Context Clues.
  •  Reading homework goes home on Tuesday. It is not due until Friday. There is an explanation slip attached to the homework. Your child CAN write on the sequencing chart. Homework is not required, (only bonus points rewarded) but it would be nice to have as many timelines completed to display at open house.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday. It will consist of 2 cold read passages that include sequencing and context clues questions.
  • Last week's tests will go home on Wednesday.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday.  
  • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc.
