January 29-February 2


D.A.R.E. graduation is Tuesday the 30th at 6:00. PLEASE make every effort to attend.

  • This week's story is Any Small Goodness.
  • This week's vocabulary words are gouges, desolate, bustles, fervor, immaculate, and assuage.
  • This week's focus skill is imagery.
  • This week's grammar skill is proverbs and adages.
  • Homework goes home on Monday, January 29th and is due on Friday, February 2nd. I will be grading some of the homework this week, so please make sure it is correct.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday, the 2nd. It will consist of a cold read passage and question set, comprehension questions about this week's reading story, and vocabulary sentences.
  • Last week's tests go home on Tuesday, the 30th.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 2nd. 
  • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc. I will continue to sign conduct folders for failure to bring materials to class, failure to return signed papers, leaving belongings in my class, behavior, etc!

Remember if your child is absent, I need a parent's or doctor's excuse when they return. If your child is sick and is out for several days, please let me know if you would like for me to get their books together so you can work with them at home. Especially with MATH.

January 22-26

This week is review week of Making Inferences.
  • Homework goes home on Monday, January 22 and is not due until Friday, January 26. I will be grading ALL of it, so make sure your child works hard on their answers.
  • This week's grammar skill is perfect verb tense.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday, January 26th. It will consist of a cold read passage and question set.
  • There will be a grammar test on Friday, January 26th also.
  • Last week's tests go home on Tuesday, January 23rd.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 26th. 
  • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc. I will continue to sign conduct folders for failure to bring materials to class, leaving belongings in my class, behavior, etc!
There is LOTS of sickness going around. If your child is absent and you would like to come to the school and pick up their textbooks, let me know and I will get everything together for you.

  • This week's vocabulary words are extravagant, unimaginable, gourmet, throng, embarked, precarious, and hiatus.
  • This week's focus skill is making inferences.
  • Homework goes home on Monday, January 8th and is due on Friday, January 12th. I will be grading some of the homework this week, so please make sure it is correct.
  • This week's grammar skill is synonyms and antonyms.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday, January 12. It will consist of comprehension questions from this week's story, vocabulary sentences, and a cold read passage about making inferences and question set.

    • Last week's tests go home on Tuesday, January 9.
    • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 12th.
