January 27-31

This week's reading standard of main idea and details and the grammar standard of punctuating titles of works correctly is review.             
 
  • Homework goes home on Monday, January 27th and is due on Friday, January 31st. Remember homework is optional, but if correct, bonus points will be rewarded.
  • There will be a reading test on Monday, January 27th because we took the reading portion of Scantron on Thursday, the 23rd. It will consist of comprehension questions about Project Mulberry and vocabulary sentences. It will also have 2 small passages with main idea and supporting details questions.
  • Last week's tests go home on Wednesday, January 29th.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 31st. 
  • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc.

Remember if your child is absent, I need a parent's or doctor's excuse within 3 days of them returning. Each student is only allowed 10 parent excuses for the WHOLE school year. After that they will need a doctor's excuse for their absences.

January 20-24

This week's reading standard is main idea and details and the grammar standard is punctuating titles of works correctly.
  • This week's reading story is Project Mulberry.
  • This week's vocabulary words are:
phobia: to have a phobia is to be terrified of something without having a good reason for the fear
swayed: something that swayed was moving back and forth
wispy: something that is wispy is thin, lightweight, and easily broken
vetoed: if someone has vetoed something, he or she has rejected it
invasion: an invasion happens when someone interrupts or disturbs you in an unwelcome way
compartments: an item that has compartments has separate sections for keeping things                 
 
  • Homework goes home on Tuesday, January 21st and is due on Monday, January 27th. Remember homework is optional, but if correct, bonus points will be rewarded.
  • There will be a reading test on Monday, January 27th because we will be taking the reading portion of Scantron on Friday, the 24th. It will consist of 2 cold read passages and question sets. Questions about Project Mulberry and vocabulary sentences.
  • Last week's tests go home on Wednesday, January 22nd.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 24th.

January 13-17

 
  • This week's reading standard of making inferences is review.
  • This week's grammar standard of 4 types of sentences is also review.

  • Homework goes home on Monday, January 13th and is due on Friday, January 17th. Remember homework is optional, but if correct, bonus points will be rewarded.

    • There will be a reading test on Friday, January 17th. It will contain 2 passages and making inferences questions and making inferences task cards.
    • There will also be a grammar test on the 4 types of sentences.
    • Reading tests go home on Tuesday, the 14th. We did not take a grammar test last Friday because of DARE graduation. If your child makes a D (60-69) or and F (59 or below), please sign and return by Friday the 17th.
    • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc.
