Progress reports go home on Tuesday, November 18th. Please review, sign, and return by Friday.
We are having a can food drive all this week. Please send in a few cans for local needy families.
Saints for Christ is in the library for students to attend every Wednesday morning at 7:15!

We had a super week last week! Everyone worked hard and is getting into the school rountine again! Looking forward to another successful week of learning!
- This week's story is Line Drive.
- This week's vocabulary words are maven, mortified, reigned, conceited, designated, smirk, and exhilarated.
- This week's focus skill is conflict and resolution.
- This week's spelling words are needle, speech, reason, crease, their, fade, obtain, faint, steep, rayon, eager, shadow, saying, mild, coach, smoke, twice, human, teenage, and niece.
- This week's grammar skill is exclamatory and imperative sentences.
- Check agenda books nightly! There is homework! Failure to turn in homework results in a conduct mark.
- There will be a reading, spelling, and grammar test on Friday.
- Don't forget to help your child study!
- We are working on Week 2 of USA Studies Weekly. We have daily activities with the newspaper Monday-Wednesday. We highlight what to study on Wednesday and it comes home on Wednesday to look over. They get to use the newspaper on the test on Thursday. This is exactly what we did last week and some of the students took the test and NEVER opened the newspaper that was on their desks. I walked around during the tests and strongly encouraged the students to use the resource, but some still chose to not use it. PLEASE encourage your child to use the resource given to them if their grade is not a 100!
- Graded papers will be returned on Tuesday. If your child made a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), sign the test and return by Friday the 22nd.
- Make sure your child comes to school if at all possible. They miss so much having 2 different teachers....especially in math. One can get quickly behind when they miss instructional time.
- If your child is absent, I must have a written parent excuse or doctor's excuse.
- If your child is going home a different way than normal, I MUST have it in writing. Do not tell your 5th grader to just tell me!

DARE graduation is Thursday, December 12th at 8:30 in the OIS lobby. All parents are invited to attend.
OIS choir performance is Thursday, December 16th at 7:00 at Calvary Baptist Church.
Christmas parties will be Thursday, December 19th! More information to come!
School will dismiss at 11:30 on Friday, December 20th. If your child will be going home a different way than usual, I will need it in writing in a note from you.
5th grade PTO program is Tuesday, January 14th at 6:00.
