  • This week's story is Nothing EVER Happens on 90th Street.
  • This week's vocabulary words are
  • hiatus: a break for a period of time
    embarked: beginning a new adventure
unimaginable: impossible to think that something might happen
    extravagant: costly and elaborate
    gourmet: expensive and rare food
    throng: a crowd of people
precarious: a situation that is uncertain and can be dangerous
  • This week's focus skill is making inferences.
  • This week's grammar skill is 4 types of sentences.

  • Homework goes home on Tuesday, January 22nd and is due on Friday, January 25th. Remember homework is optional, but if correct, bonus points will be rewarded. For the rest of the year, I will only be sending home the homework with the students who tell me they plan on doing it. I am losing dozens of copies of homework that these students are taking, not completing, and not returning my copy.

Reading tests from last Friday will go home on Wednesday, January 23rd. If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 or below) I have stamped the test sign and return. Please do so by Friday, January 25th.
    • There will be a reading test on Friday, January 25th. It will consist of comprehension questions and vocabulary sentences from this week's story. It will also contain a passage and 4 making inferences questions.
    • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc.
    • Let me know if you need me in any way!

    Coming Up Soon:

Hat Day: Friday, January 25th. $1.00
DARE Graduation: Tuesday, January 29th at 6:00

Remember students are only allowed 10 parent excuses for the WHOLE year. After 10 parent excuses, students will not be allowed to make up ANY missed work or tests.
