November 18-22


*****4th and 5th Grade Field Trip is Friday, December 6th. Permission slips and information letter went home last week.
  • This week's story is Interrupted Journey.
  • This week's vocabulary words are
  • vital: necessary for life
    sleek: smooth
    basking: animals exposed to the sun's warmth
    analyzing: studying
    detect: noticed or discovered 
    damage: harmed or injured
  • This week's focus skill is author's purpose, 1st and 3rd point of view, and perspective.
  • This week's grammar skill is Greek and Latin word parts. There will be a spelling test on Thursday, December 5.
  • The spelling words are astronomy, astronaut, chronic, chronological, chronicle, cyclical, cyclone, hydrant, hydrate, optical, optician, tractor, attract, rupture, interrupt, erupt, audible, audio, dictate, and verdict.
  • Reading homework goes home on Monday. It is not required but I grade a portion of this homework for bonus points; so please make sure it is answered correctly and your child uses their reading story to find those answers.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday. It will consist of a cold read passage and question set including author's purpose and perspective and comprehension questions about this week's story, and vocabulary sentences.
  • There will be a grammar test on Greek and Latin word parts also on Friday. They will get to use the chart just like the bellringer assignment.
  • Last week's tests go home on Tuesday.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday.  
  • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc.
  • Let me know if you need me in any way!


  • Remember if your child is absent, I need a parent's or doctor's excuse within 3 days of them returning. Each student is only allowed 10 parent excuses for the WHOLE school year.
