February 11-15

Congrats to all the D.A.R.E. essays winners and all of the students for graduating last Thursday.
  • This week's focus skill is the reviewing of theme.
  • This week's grammar skill is the reviewing of homophones.
  •  This 9 weeks spelling words are homophones. The test is this Friday, February 15th. The words are bored, board, principle, principal, stationary, stationery, crews, cruise, presence, presents, flower, flour, allowed, aloud, peace, piece, dual, duel, flare, and flair. The students will not only have to spell the words correctly, but know the definitions of each homophone.

  • Homework goes home on Monday, February 11th and is due on Friday, February 15th. Remember homework is optional, but if correct, bonus points will be rewarded. For the rest of the year, I will only be sending home the homework with the students who tell me they plan on doing it. I am losing dozens of copies of homework that these students are taking, not completing, and not returning my copy.

Reading tests from last Friday will go home on Tuesday, February 12th. If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 or below) I have stamped the test sign and return. Please do so by Friday, February 15th.
    • There will be a reading test on Friday, February 15th. It will consist of a cold read passage with questions involving theme.
    • There will be a grammar test on Friday, February 15th.
    • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc.
    • Let me know if you need me in any way!
