September 18-22

I pushed back last week's schedule into Monday and Tuesday of this new week because of being out of school last week.

Test and homework due on TUESDAY.

 

• This week's story is Stormalong. 
• This week's genre is tall tale.
• This week's focus skill is Cause and Effect. 
• This week's vocabulary words are reputation, yearning, escapades, bellowing, betrayed, outcast, withered, and unfathomable.
• This week's grammar skill is homographs.
• Reading homework went home last Wednesday. It is not due until Tuesday. I grade a portion of this homework, so please make sure it is answered correctly and your child uses their reading book to find those answers.
• There will be a reading test on Tuesday. It will consist of a cold read passage and question set, comprehension questions about this week's story, and vocabulary sentences.
• Last week's tests went home on Thursday.
• If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Tuesday.  
• Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc. I will continue to sign conduct folders for failure to bring materials to class, failure to return signed papers, behavior, etc!

• Wednesday, October 4 Picture Day
• Friday, October 6 Vocabulary Parade (letter went home last week)

• Monday-Wednesday: October 9-11 Fall Break

Please send to school with your child an inexpensive pair of head phones or ear buds for computer lab. Thanks to everyone who has already sent them in.

Remember if your child is absent, I need a parent's or doctor's excuse when they return.
