January 8-12

This week's story is Nothing Ever Happens on 90th Street.

This week's vocabulary words are extravagant, unimaginable, gourmet, throng, embarked, precarious, and hiatus.

This week's focus skill is making inferences.

Homework goes home on Monday, January 8th and is due on Friday, January 12th. I will be grading some of the homework this week, so please make sure it is correct.

This week's grammar skill is synonyms and antonyms.

There will be a reading test on Friday, January 12. It will consist of comprehension questions from this week's story, vocabulary sentences, and a cold read passage about making inferences and question set.

• Last week's tests go home on Tuesday, January 9.
• If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 12th. 
• Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc. I will continue to sign conduct folders for failure to bring materials to class, leaving belongings in my class, behavior, etc!
