February 1-5

GREAT program last Thursday night! The kids did fantastic and everyone enjoyed the show! Thanks to those of you that allowed your child to participate.

  • This week's story is Project Mulberry.
  • This week's genre is realistic fiction.
  • This week's focus skill is main idea and details.
  • This week's vocabulary words are compartments, swayed, phobia, invasion, vetoed, and wispy.
  • This week's spelling words are courteous, hazadous, humorous, monstrous, porous, curious, furious, glorious, delirious, fictitious, gracious, ambitious, discourteous, dangerous, anxious, spontaneous, religious, delicious, mountainous, and ridiculous.
  • This week's grammar skill is adjectives and articles.
  • Please check your child's agenda book every night. Their homework should be listed!
  • There will be a social studies test on Thursday.
  • There will be a reading, spelling, and grammar test on Friday.
  • Tests papers go home on Tuesday! Sign and return if your child makes a D or an F.
  • We are working on Week 18 in social studies this week.
  • PLEASE make sure your child has pencils and a sharpener.

    January 25-29

    • So proud of all of the students who earned awards last Friday at the 1st semester award's day.
    • Our 5th grade program is this Thursday, January 28th at 6:00. Please have your child there by 5:45. My homeroom is to dress in 50s style clothes. Unless they are a Backstreet Boy or a Spice Girl. Those students know who they are.
    • Lesson 17 tests will be this Monday, January 25. There will be a reading and a spelling test.
    • Mrs. Tillman's homeroom will also take the lesson 17 social studies.
    • Reading homework questions are due on Monday also.
    • Mrs. Tillman's homeroom will be turning in last Thursday night's spelling homework that I never got a chance to take up last Friday.
    • There will be a grammar test on correlative conjunctions on Wednesday for both classes.
    • We will be working on main idea and detail this week.
    • We will start back up with lesson 18 next Monday.
    • We are in need of paper towels in my classrooms. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

    January 18-22

  • Huge thanks to all of the parents and family that came out last Thursday for our DARE graduation. Congrats to the 12 class winners and the overall essay winner. So proud of ALL of the students.
  • Report cards go home this Thursday, January 21st. Please review, sign, and return as soon as possible.
  • Award's Day for the 1st semester is this Friday, January 22nd at 10:15.
  •  We are having a Winter Dance on Friday, January 22nd during the school day for any students who have enough HALO tickets to attend.
  • This week's story is Nothing Ever Happens on 90th Street.
  • This week's vocabulary words are extravagant, unimaginable, gourmet, throng, embarked, precarious, and hiatus.
  • This week's focus skill is making inferences.
  • This week's spelling words are accountant, applicant, attendant, defiant, mutineer, expectant, hesitant, quadrant, resistant, servant, dependent, indulgent, insistent, urgent, auctioneer, accompanist, artist, cellist, technician, and novelist.
  • This week's grammar skill is correlative conjunctions.
  • We will be working on Week 17 in social studies this week. Test will be on Friday.
  • There will be spelling homework on Tuesday and Thursday nights this week.
  • Vocabulary words homework is Tuesday night and reading questions are not due until Monday.
  • There will be a reading, spelling, and grammar test next Monday, January 25th.
  • Lesson 16 tests will go home this Wednesday. If your child makes a 69 or below on any test, please sign and return that test by Friday. Conduct marks will be given for any unreturned tests.
  • Don't forget the 5th grade program is next Thursday, January 28th at 6:00.

  • D.A.R.E. graduation is Thursday, January 14th at 9:00. All parents are invited to attend.
  •  1st semester Award's Day is next Friday, January 22nd at TBA.

  • This week's focus skill is making inferences.
  • We are working on Week 17 in social studies. Test will be on Thursday.
  • There is spelling and reading homework on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. Check student agenda books for this information.
  • There will be a reading, spelling, and grammar test on Friday. Please make sure that your child is studying!
  • Graded tests will come home on Tuesdays. Please sign and return the test papers that are a D or an F by Friday.

    I hope you all had a wonderful and restful Christmas break. Thank you ALL for the terrific Christmas presents that your child gave me. I am spoiled!
