March 9-13

Grammar standard of conjunctions is review this week.

We will be beginning our chapter book, Bridge to Terabithia, study this week.
  • Monday, March 9th, read and discuss chapter 1
  • Tuesday, March 10th, listen to chapter 1 on audio and quiz on chapter 1
  • Wednesday, March 11th, read and discuss chapter 2
  • Thursday, March 12th, listen to chapter 2 on audio and quiz on chapter 2
  • Friday, March 13th Grammar Test on Conjunctions. Read and discuss chapter 3.
There is no homework for bonus points during the book study. Your child will have a study guide filled out for every chapter. Please try to have your child at school as much as possible.

Book quizzes will go home as I get them graded. If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 or below) I have stamped the test sign and return. Please do so as soon as possible.

March 2-6


  •  This week's grammar standard is conjunctions. There will be a test on Friday, March 13th.
  • There is not a reading standard this week. We are looking over some ACAP state testing practice tests, listening to guest readers for Read Across America week, and watching Dr. Seuss read alouds on youtube. There is no reading test this week. Students should be completing their Dear Mrs. Williams' notebooks for the 3rd nine weeks.
  •  There will be no more homework for the remainder of the year. We will be beginning our novel study of Bridge to Terabithia next week.
  • Last week's tests go home on Tuesday, March 3rd.
  • If your child made a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Thursday the 5th. 
  • Talk with your child about their library book and their Dear Mrs. Williams' notebook. It will take the place of the reading notebook grade this next two 9 weeks.

February 24-28

This week's reading standard of summarizing and paraphrasing and the grammar standard of homophones is REVIEW.
 
  • Homework went home on Tuesday, February 18th and is due on Friday, February 28th. Remember homework is optional, but if correct, bonus points will be rewarded.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday, February 28th. It will consist of cold read passages and question sets.
  • There will be a grammar test on homophones on Friday, February 28th.
  • This 9 weeks spelling words are homophones. The test is Friday, February 28th. The words are bored, board, principle, principal, stationary, stationery, crews, cruise, presence, presents, flower, flour, allowed, aloud, peace, piece, dual, duel, flare, and flair. The students will not only have to spell the words correctly, but know the definitions of each homophone.
  • Last week's tests went home on Friday, February 21st.
  • If your child made a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 28th. 
  • Talk with your child about their library book and their Dear Mrs. Williams' notebook. It will take the place of the reading notebook grade this next two 9 weeks.

This week's reading standard of main idea and details and the grammar standard of punctuating titles of works correctly is review.             
 
  • Homework goes home on Monday, January 27th and is due on Friday, January 31st. Remember homework is optional, but if correct, bonus points will be rewarded.
  • There will be a reading test on Monday, January 27th because we took the reading portion of Scantron on Thursday, the 23rd. It will consist of comprehension questions about Project Mulberry and vocabulary sentences. It will also have 2 small passages with main idea and supporting details questions.
  • Last week's tests go home on Wednesday, January 29th.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 31st.
