February 26-March 2

 
  • THERE WILL BE NO MORE READING HOMEWORK UNTIL FUTHER NOTICE!

We will begin the chapter book Bridge to Terabithia on Monday, February 26th. We will read and study the chapter the first day and then have a 10 question quiz the next day. For example we will read and study Chapter 1 on Monday, review and test on Chapter 1 on Tuesday, read and study Chapter 2 on Wednesday, then review and test on Chapter 2 on Thursday. We will do this until we are finished with the book.
  • This week's grammar skill is interjections.
  • There will be a grammar test on Thursday, March 1st. 
  • Last week's tests go home on Tuesday, February 27th.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below) on the chapter tests, please sign the test and return.
  • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc. I will continue to sign conduct folders for failure to bring materials to class, leaving belongings in my class, behavior, etc!

February 19-23

This week is review week of Summarizing and Paraphrasing.
  • THERE WILL BE NO MORE READING HOMEWORK UNTIL FUTHER NOTICE.
  • This week's grammar skill is correlative conjunctions.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday, February 23rd. It will consist of summarizing and paraphrasing passages.
  • There will be a grammar test on Friday, February 23rd. 
  • Last week's tests go home on Wednesday, February 20th.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 23rd. 
  • Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc. I will continue to sign conduct folders for failure to bring materials to class, leaving belongings in my class, behavior, etc!
There is LOTS of sickness going around. If your child is absent and you would like to come to the school and pick up their textbooks, let me know and I will get everything together for you.

February 12-16

  • This week's story is Lewis and Clark page 664-675.
  • This week's genre is narrative nonfiction.
  • This week's focus skill is summarizing and paraphrasing page 660-661.
  • This week's vocabulary words are asset, intently, profusely, ordeal, terrain, dismal, peril, and esteem page 662-663.
  • We will be working on reference sources in grammar again this week. There will be a grammar test on Friday, February 16th.
  • Homework goes home on Monday, February 12th and is due on Friday, February 16th. I will be grading some of the homework this week, so please make sure it is correct.
  • There will be a reading test on Friday, the 16th. It will consist of a cold read passage and question set, comprehension questions about this week's reading story, and vocabulary sentences.
  • Last week's tests go home on Tuesday, the 13th.
  • If your child makes a D (60-69) or an F (59 and below), please sign the test and return it by Friday the 16th.
