August 22-26
This week's story is Line Drive.
This week's genre is autobiography.
This week's focus skill is conflict, plot, and resolution.
This week's vocabulary words are maven, mortified, reigned, conceited, designated, smirk, and exhilarated.
This week's grammar skill is context clues and reviewing idioms from last week.
There will be a reading and grammar test on Friday.
We will be working on week 2 in social studies. A study guide will come home on Mondays. Tests are on Fridays. Your child is allowed to use the USA Studies Weekly newspaper during the tests but not the study guides.
Tests will come home this week on Tuesday.
Agenda books are in! They will be listing their homework starting this week in their agenda books.
Their conduct folders are also at the beginning of the agenda books. I have already signed some of them last week because of no homework. PLEASE make sure you help your child with homework and organization.
Reading homework is assigned on Mondays and is not due until Thursdays (vocabulary words definitions) and Fridays (reading story answers and graphic organizers from passages).
Please continue to talk with your child about their school work, homework, conduct, notes from the school/teachers, etc. Some of the students are still adjusting to a new school year and getting organized!
If I do not reply to an email, I did not receive it. It has gone to my spam folder. Please send a written note with your child if I have not responded through email.
Let me know if you need me in any way!
